SkyTeam NewsFlash – January 2007

SkyTeam, the global airline alliance partnering Aeroflot, Aeroméxico, Air France, Alitalia, Continental Airlines, Czech Airlines, Delta Air Lines, KLM, Korean Air and Northwest Airlines, sets itself apart by offering an exclusive experience for all passengers.  Issued monthly, SkyTeam NewsFlash provides media with key updates and insights on alliance activities.

SkyTeam Global Meetings

At the conclusion of its launch year, the SkyTeam Global Meetings product, designed to assist international event coordinators, has been extensively used by convention organizers around the world. From Washington, D.C. to Belgrade, Barcelona to Dubai, SkyTeam is the official airline alliance of a range of events and conferences. For example, SkyTeam signed contracts with the Belgrade Fair for their November 2006 meeting and the Kofak: Transform 2006 conference, also held in December 2006 in Prague. The network created by SkyTeam’s ten member airlines, allows Global Meeting organizers to promote flight options for attendees no matter where they select the meeting location.

In 2007, SkyTeam expects to further expand the customer base for this successful product. Already, organizations, such as the International Paris Air Show Le Bourget, 3GSM and World Virtual Aviation Congress, are looking to SkyTeam Global Meetings to ease the travel arrangement process for their meetings in the coming years. Coordinators are employing SkyTeam and its partner airlines to provide greater options to help attendees travel to increasingly popular destinations. For example, the World Psychiatric Association Congress is using the SkyTeam Global Meeting product for their March 2007 conference in Nairobi. Through the partnership between KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Kenya Airways, event attendees will have greater access to the area.

SkyTeam Global Meetings was specifically designed to make the process of managing travel easier for those who arrange and attend large scale international events all over the world,” said Franck Thiebaut, chair of SkyTeam’s sales coordination committee and vice president of alliance marketing, Air France.  “Given our extensive network and key airport hubs in the Americas, Asia and Europe, we are well positioned to offer event attendees more flight and schedule options, with nearly 15,000 daily departures to 728 destinations in 149 countries.”

In April 2006, SkyTeam, the global airline alliance, expanded its product offerings to serve meeting organizers and planners through SkyTeam Global Meetings. The SkyTeam Global Meetings product is designed to streamline the process of arranging travel for large-scale international meetings – from registering the event to simplified booking for event attendees. Since its inception, SkyTeam Global Meetings has grown in recognition and usage among organizers and attendees of global meetings, conferences and events. While meeting planners can coordinate all air travel across ten member airlines via one single contact, event attendees also benefit by receiving attractive or discounted airfares and still accruing frequent flyer miles on all SkyTeam carriers.

SkyTeam continues to grow its business to meet the needs of all customers. Whether attending the World Congress on Osteoporosis in Bangkok or the World Virtual Aviation Congress in Sao Paulo, travelers can rely on SkyTeam to get them there with ease.
