Radomír Lašák

Radomír Lašák
President and Chairman of the Management Board
Czech Airlines

Radomír Lašák became the President and Chairman of the Management Board of Czech Airlines on 19 January 2006.  He was appointed into these positions by the company's Management Board and Supervisory Board.

Radomír Lašák (43) is a top Czech business executive who has experience with the successful transformation and restructuring of corporations. He was a member of the crisis management team that successfully laid out and executed the privatisation of Komerčni Banka, over a period of 18 months.  He was the head of the eBanka team that managed to transform a formerly loss-generating electronic bank into a bank that learned how to sell its products and services at a profit, as a standard banking institution, within a 2-year period.  He was a member of the management board of ČEZ, which successfully triggered the growth of ČEZ shares and implemented a unique project in the Czech Republic, “VIZE 2008”, for the integration of regional power distribution companies.  There, in the course of only one year, he and his team managed to create and implement a new personnel policy strategy and a project for the professional management of the entire group, which included a number of newly acquired foreign corporations.

Radomír Lašák began his professional career in Ústí nad Labem at the “Spolek pro Chemickou a Hutní Výrobu” company, which he left in 1991, when he went to work for Komerčni Banka.  There, he held a number of sales and management positions, until the year 2000, when he became the member of the bank's management board responsible for its retail operations and sales.  From 2002 to 2004, he was the managing director of eBanka; and, for the fifteen months prior to joining the Airline, he was a member of the managing board of ČEZ, being responsible for the overall management of the ČEZ Group and HR.

He brought an experienced management team to Czech Airlines, which prepared and has been implementing the three-year revitalisation plan, OK 2006-2008 Strategy.  The goal is to return the company to profitability after years of losses.  The strategy is based on an increase in performance in all areas, and on focusing the Airline on its main line of business – passenger carriage.  Targeted pressure on cost reductions, and especially on revenue increases, yielded its first fruit in 2006, when the accumulation of Czech Airlines’ losses was stopped.  The Airline reported a profit of 207 million crowns in 2007 and expects a profit of around 400 million crowns in 2008.

In 2008, the Management Board, led by Radomír Lašák, presented a new development strategy, CSA 2009 – 2013, which expects further extensive growth and consolidation of the company’s market position.

Radomír Lašák attended the Prague School of Economics and later obtained an MBA from the Prague International Business School.  He is 43 years of age, married, and has three sons.  His hobbies include travel and sports, and he was a member of a premier league volleyball team from 1986 to 1988.
